1st Year Work
The first year of graduate was difficult, but so rewarding. I thought that I was pushing myself in the last few years of my undergraduate degree by taking 16 credits and up per term and shooting for high marks, but the architecture program requires a different level of commitment. To learn the skills necessary for design and the representation of my ideas, I ended up spending between 90 and 100 hours working each week. Additionally, the amount of public speaking required with (relatively) little preparation was nerve-racking. Looking back through, I can see that I developed at a pace that was amazingly quick because of how my instructors (Adriana Cuellar & Blas Herrera) pushed me and for all that they do, they deserve the highest levels of praise. In the times when life was difficult and looked bleak, and whenever I thought I wouldn’t be able to finish the tasks set for me, my partner Katie was my rock. Her patience, selflessness, and kindness inspire me to be better, and she deserves credit for making possible everything that I do.
